about the artists:

The Glass Bees specialize in spontaneous composition, extemporaneous arrangement, real-time loop construction and deconstruction, and general noise wrangling. Built on chance juxtapositions and constant negotiations, their sound can be delicate or massive, atmospheric or lyrical. They recently finished their first CD-length release, titled Tops Crops Snaps Hots, which compiles highlights from an ongoing series of free web postings into a continuous mix.

MOSTRA is a collaborative team that combines single channel video, interactive video installations, live video mixing and graphic design. Their work has been shown in the US, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, France and UK. m o s t r a is gabriela monroy + caspar stracke. Their single channel work is in distribution of Video Data Bank, e-film workshop, Lightcone, Paris and Impakt Festival, NL. They are also the brains behind VIDEO_DUMBO , an annual festival that highlights video art held this year Sept 26-28 at the new Galapagos. Joining them on audio is Nico Mazet, a sound designer/electronic musician with over 15 years of experience in film, documentary, television and sound design.

VBLANK is a live media project by Wil Lindsay. Wil Currently lives and plays in Philadelphia, where he teaches Interactive Media at the University of the Arts and Philadelphia University. He is currently serving as the resident artist for Philadelphia’s The Hacktory, and creates installation and performative visual work that can be seen regionally and throughout the country. Venues for Wil’s work include the recent 2008 Siggraph “Slow Arts” exhibition in Los Angeles, and live visual accompaniment as VBLANK in the upcoming “BLIP” Festival 2008, in New York. VBLANK live video is created entirely realtime with all source graphics produced directly from small custom circuits and microcontrollers. No computer, laptop, DVD player or other video source is used during the live video performances. He is joined by gameboy musician AUTO DA FE. Let the 8bit invasion begin!

VJ Pixalot’s style has been described as narrative VJing. More specifically, he creates live “edits” of un-effected film content. Drawing on an archive of short clips taken from his own films, historical art films and main stream cinema, he creates new narratives, associations and visual/audio mash-ups in real time. Pixalot’s live music/vj/dj performances have taken him to Canada, USA, Czech Republic, Germany, Indonesia, Brazil and Korea, playing everything from raves, small clubs and festivals to concert halls and international art festivals along side artists such as, Afrika Bambaata, DJ Goldie, DJ Spooky, DJ Markie and DJ Hype amongst others. Arriving to NYC in 2006, to build the “42nd Street Transmission” Labtest media installation, VJ Pixalot has performed extensively in New York including lengthy VJ residencies at “I Love Drum n Bass” at Remote Lounge and at 200 Orchard Street, NYC.
