Admission:
$5, $10 minimum
Showtime:

reservations are recommended

This unusual east/west coast collaboration features songwriter (and DJ on WNYC) David Garland, filmmakers and actors (both were regulars on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) Amber Benson and Adam Busch, and artist Anne Garland (Luminous Playhouse) presenting scintillating songs and vibrant visuals, including the premier of a Garland music video dir. by Amber Benson and Adam Busch.

Anne Garland's Luminous Playhouse photo series of magnified, emotionally rich scenes are projected onto Monkeytown's four surrounding screens as David Garland sings, accompanying himself on 12-string guitar, with interludes of clarinet and flute, and a one-man trio for voice, shruti box, and flexible funnel. Amber Benson and Adam Busch add their singing voices to some of Garland's songs.

Adam's L.A.-based band Common Rotation performs a set of their enjoyable songs and gorgeous harmonies. The band features the voice and guitar of chief songwriter Eric Kufs; the trumpet, flugelhorn, and banjo of Jordan Katz; and vocals and sundries by Adam Busch.

Contributing colorful, malleable video processing to both acts is Kenji Garland and camera operator Aurora Cobb, utilizing a processing program Kenji designed.
