Soft Circle has recently become a duo with Hisham Akira Bharoocha
and Ben Vida (Town and Country/Singer/Bird Show). This music
project came about after Hisham left his former band, Black Dice,
in search of a new way to create music by himself. Through modern
music technology he has been able to create a way to perform
on his own, where he records and loops sounds live and then adds
drums and singing. Bharoocha started out making tribal/electronic/ambient
anthems that forged paths between the spirit world and the human
tribes of past and present. His new sound is still based on his
fascination with repetition, cyclical rhythms and trance inducing
sounds, but has gone further into the direction of heavy beats
and more solidified song structures, even using lyrics as a new
means to communicate.
Since 2000, a side project of producer multi-instrumentalist
David LeBleu, Textual Originally started as a way to make instrumental
music alone utilizing a computer. After many experiments in performance
and with software, a 2003 tour of Japan with Dave's band The
Mercury Program, led to the release of the CD "Hindsight
Sunglasses" exclusively in Japan on Stiff Slack Records
released in 2004. After much evolution and inclusion of other
members for live performance including the voice of Rain Phoenix,
The album "Dirty South Still Life" was released as
an LP in July of 2005 by Organik Recordings, and a CD version
was released in summer of 2007. Following the DSSL release, There
was another limited self release CDR of early works that pre-dated
the Hindsight Sunglasses material. From May 05' till the present
Textual has performed many live shows as a full live band including
live percussion, bass, vibes, electric piano, synths, and vocals.
Most recently since relocating to New York City in July 2006,
Dave has been experimenting with more analog electronic instruments,
building his own as well as modifying and circuit bending pre-existing
instruments and devices, moving Textual's music toward a more
ambient and loop based style teetering on the edge of avant jazz.
Throughout 2009 has been spent working towards turning Textual
into a more modular performance setup that can be solo or include
various performers at times.
Live visuals will be performed by Lars Rasmussen
