It was in the fall of 2007 when Gabriel Hays decided that he would need to write a bunch of songs and record them himself, if his vision of music was going to be clear enough to show others. So, that’s what he did. After several months of writing and recording (usually in that order) he found himself with about 10 songs. Knowing it was time to start bringing the band together, he asked some of his favorite musicians and people in the city. And they got it going!!

The band is now working on their debut CD to be released next year.

Arturo En El Barco is the work of Angélica Negrón a young composer from Astoria, NY via San Juan, Puerto Rico. She writes lo-fi ambient compositions that are mostly crafted live through piano, accordions, found sounds, violins, music boxes and voices. Her music has been released on Observatory Online (Austria) and Carte Postale Records (Belgium) and she has appeared on various compilations from labels such as Aerotone (Germany), Tri-Postal (Belgium). At-At Records (México) and Si No Puedo Bailar (Brazil). José Olivares (from Balún) collaborates in the project with additional programmings and keyboards.

" ...Arturo En El Barco is piano-based electronica of the very sweet type, the type that moves you, but only in inches, warming your oh so delicate heartstrings so very softly-softly...Negrón has created an album with oceans of charm which oozes innocence and warmth; it's like wearing rose tinted spectacles..." - ANGRY APE
