January 9th, 2008 marks the 95th birthday of President Richard M. Nixon.

Join Bell, overlord, and Gates of Heaven for an evening of music and video as they celebrate the charmingly obsolete notions of what had constituted our superlative national disgrace.

Come and forget the last decade, which has rendered Watergate an adorable and quaint little heresy of democratic ideals.

Bell is fronted by belle Olga Bell, a Moscow born keyboardist in NYC by way of Alaska. Bell is just as likely to wow you with magnetic vocals (Olga's voice has been compared to Feist, Bjork, Karen O and David Bowie) as with crackerjack instrumental technique, hypercolor arrangements and passionate advocacy of early 90s hip-hop covers. Drummer Jason Nazary, guitarist Ryan Ferreira and bassist Mike Chiavaro round out the band.

overlord is a five-piece indie rock outfit made up of sunny New York music non-scenesters coalescing around a bitter ex-patriot Philadelphian. Singer George Pasles, keyboardist Tris McCall, guitarist Kerry Kennedy, drummer Matt Houser and bassist Sarah Brockett provide catchy, upbeat pop songs about the suffocating banality of existence. Whether the latter is evident depends on the veracity of the P.A. system. Morrissey lawsuit pending.

Gates of Heaven features Graham Smith aka Kleenex Girl Wonder and Zachary Mexiico of the Octagon. They have released three albums in the mere 10 months they've existed. Their music is self-described as "the middle of the evening in a video game forest", which means lots of FM-synthesizers.

After being a sideman in the late 50s, Richard M. Nixon became the most prominent voice of early 70s one-hit wonder The Plumbers. Those lo-fi recordings are still legendary today.
