In this 90-minute multimedia presentation, recognized Twilight Zone and Serling scholar Arlen Schumer (Visions From The Twilight Zone, Chronicle Books 1991) traces the classic television show’s roots in early 20th Century surrealist art and ideas, and in turn its influence on modern art and American pop culture. To Schumer, The Father of American Popular Culture is Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone.

Part lecture, part performance piece, Schumer reads excerpts of dialogue and narration from the series like spoken word poetry, while Twilight Zone soundtrack music plays in sync and graphic images from the episodes form the backdrop; in addition, the classic episode "Eye of The Beholder" is screened in its entirety.

From high art to low art and back again, Visions From The Twilight Zone will make you look at The Twilight Zone—and television itself—as you never have before.

Schumer's other books include The Neal Adams Sketchbook (Vanguard, 1999) and The Silver Age of Comic Book Art (Collectors Press, 2003), winner of the Independent
Publishers Book Award for Best Popular Culture Book of 2003. His comic book-styled commercial illustrations can be found at www.arlenschumer.com
