Saxophonist Colin Stetson celebrates the release of his debut solo album, New History Warfare Vol.1 (Aagoo Records, Brooklyn), with very special guest Sam Amidon.

Imagine somehow the ghost of Rahsaan Roland Kirk watching over Steve Reich at his most relentless, Oval at his most tonally beautiful and Autechre at their heaviest, but all in the form of one man breathing fiercely, spectacularly through a bass clarinet or bass saxophone, in a dark, small, wooden room. Including duets with Stuart Bogie (Antibalas, Celebration), Sarah Neufeld (Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre) and Jeremiah Lockwood (Sway Machinery, Balkan Beat-Box), among others. Opening the evenings will be the hauntingly beautiful likes of Sam Amidon.
