+ Sontag Shogun

Thursday, June 18
Admission:
$5, $10 minimum
Showtime:
7:30pm

Silver Pines create woozy, gauzy, thick sonic-sheets of fuzzed out vintage keys and guitars, all held together by seemingly submerged percussion, with the super-tone-twang of slide, singing-saw, and ghost-like vocals of Stefanie Franciotti floating over the whole mess of it. Silver Pines have toured the US west-coast, and have begun to gather a sizable following, sharing the stage with the likes of Brightblack Morning Light, This Will Destroy You, Nite Jewel, MV & EE and many others. This time around, Silver Pines will have fresh copies of their new 10" record, Forces, courtesy of Light Lodge records.

Silent Land Time Machine is "naive bedroom folkrock filtered through some blissed out minimalist phase experiment. ecstatic, post-psychedelic chamber rock maybe?": a mix of electronics, sound manipulations, voice, viola, and a number of other noise-makers to create a lucid wall of sound that fires off musical messages like synapses recycling themselves at will. SLTM's debut record, &hope still, (co-released between Indian Queen and TIME-LAG records) has been received warmly both nationally and internationally, though this will be the first time the bed-room project will be taken on the road.

Sntg Shgn is a Brooklyn trio that uses a live piano filtered through two simultaneous electronics stations to create shifting walls of sound, mirrors that chase each other through a forest of tones. Haunting echoed vocals and cymbal manipulations add to the textured collage.
