Ezekiel Honig, Lince, Queens and The Present will give shape to an electronic music night at Monkey Town . Joshue Ott (NYC) will be playing visuals in both performances.

Ezekiel Honig (Anticipate/Microcosm, NYC)
A New York City native, and founder/label manager for the Anticipate and Microcosm labels, Ezekiel Honig concentrates on his idiosyncratic brand of emotively warm electronic-acoustic music. Using the loop as more of a tool than a rule, Honig paints outside the lines, nestling into a comfortable, shared space between muted techno, melodic, event-driven ambient and slowmotion house - using them as reference points from which to stray, rather than as steadfast frameworks. Drawing on the rich history of musique concrete, Honig looks to incorporate a material nature into his music by imbuing it with a host of field recording/found-sound sources in the search for a balance between digital software innovation and the physicality of the world around us. His music is one of contrast and contradiction, combining minimal, abstract tendencies with a core of timeless harmonics - pairing inviting, fuzzy chords with clunky and dirty "mishaps."

Lince (Madrid, Spain)

Musician, political scientist and resident DJ in the mythical club ´Oui` of Madrid, Lince´s going to release a first LP in 2009: ´GOLPE DE LUZ`. While Lince´s style as a DJ is focused on a pure club sound, as a musician has mainly developed intimate and misterious atmospheres, exploring love and nostalgic landscapes. The upcoming show at Monkey Town will be LINCE´s first performance in the US.

After one month of touring together on both coasts, two bands return to New York for their homecoming show. Queens is the solo project of Scott Mou ( Solo artist as well as collaborations with Koen Holtkamp and Noah Lennox) who combines ambient guitar chords and vocals with lush noise, creating an urgent but meditative atmosphere. The Present is a trio comprised of Rusty Santos, Mina, and Jesse Lee, which has released two abstract masterpieces called 'World I See', and 'The Way We Are.' The live experience of this potent and pure music is far more visceral and song-based than said recordings, as they mix ambient sounds and pop constructs to create the unique and truly magnetic effect that they have become known for through numerous tours in the US and elsewhere.

Joshue Ott (Anticipate, Interval Studios, NYC)

Joshue Ott is a multi-disciplined media artist and designer. Over the last couple of years, his attentions have been largely devoted to creating superDraw, software intended for live visual performance. With superDraw, Ott's interest has been to create a program that could produce visual art, but behave more like a musical instrument, to be learned, practiced and wielded just like a guitar, saxophone or laptop. To this end, the program is fitted with a tablet interface for drawing in real time, enabling a higher degree of physical interaction with the person using it, and arguably, a higher degree of interactive expression.

Performing with superDraw, Ott bends lines and movements - creating improvised hand drawn forms which rest in a comfortable space between minimalism, psychedelia and curious simplicity. With the subdued use of color amidst stark black and white, Ott's visual work complements the music perfectly, highlighting contrast and maneuvering through moment driven change. By taking advantage of the immediacy of on the spot art, made outside the computer, and transferred through it, Ott is able to unite the worlds of the physical and digital to make a perfect union of human control and computer fueled chance.
