Storytelling meets the sampling culture. Deft video mixes blend with a stream of remixed movie stills to create a universe of runaway nanobots, psychic anarchists, and counterterrorist therapists. The Psychasthenia Society presents an evening of satiric tales and brilliant video driven by great music.

Jon Keith Brunelle, the founder of The Psychasthenia Society, calls his work laptop storytelling: rapid-fire digital slide shows comprising hundreds of vintage movie stills, remixed to form satiric new stories he tells in live voiceover. He has presented his work at P.S. 122, Galapagos Art Space, Monkey Town, and various gallery events. The Nanolove Report, written by Jon and performed by The Psychasthenia Society, enjoyed a successful run at Collective: Unconscious during 2005 and 2006.

As the visual coordinator of The Psychasthenia Society, Daniel Vatsky draws from his expertise as both an established video artist and a professional archival image researcher. His projections have graced the walls and screens of dozens of New York clubs and parties. Performance highlights include showings at the Museum of Modern Art, the Merce Cunningham Dance Studio, and the Knitting Factory. Recent collaborations include work with multimedia performance artist Laurie Anderson and documentary filmmaker Ric Burns.
