Presenting three solo sets for a night of ambient & drone-based sounds.
Aidan Baker is a Canadian musician and writer creating guitar-based music that ranges from ambient/experimental to shoegaze/postrock. He has released numerous albums both as a solo artist and with group projects Nadja, ARC, and Whisper Room on such labels as Alien8 Recordings, Beta-Lactam Ring Records, and Important Records.
Duane Pitre is a Brooklyn-based, avant-garde composer and performer. He has presented his works in NYC at such spaces as Roulette, The Stone, and ISSUE Project Room (where he was the Spring 2009 Artist in Residence) and has shared bills with artists such as Marc Ribot, Tony Conrad, Audrey Chen, Sean Meehan, and James Blackshaw. Pitre has releases on Important Records, Trome Records, and Quiet Design and appeared on compilations with artists such as Keith Rowe, Sir Richard Bishop, Tetuzi Akiyama, and Jandek.
To call Byron Westbrook a composer of breathtakingly beautiful ambient pieces and drone works is reasonably accurate but painfully reductive; Westbrook, whose work under the name CORRIDORS has involved acoustic instruments, field recordings, spatialized playback and lighting, is the kind of artist for whom the old, mostly disused term intermedia was coined.
