While San Francisco's Meridians is only two people, Julie Napolin (ex-Citay) and Trevor Healy (Brooklyn's improv duo, Paper Legs), the two create hauntingly dense soundscapes that overtake the room. There are echoes of British folk, minimalism and the more cinematic strains of krautrock as the two combine intricate electric and
12-string guitarmonies over pulsing loops of flute, violin, found objects and oscillators. They just finished recording their first record with Tim Green of The Fucking Champs, to be released later this year.

Longstanding Brooklyn friends recently formed Starring to offer an irresistible brew of psychedelic art rock. Combining Mister's enormously fast organ loops, Sam's fuzz bass, Jacqueee!!!'s robotic viola, and Suzie's neurotic math guitar, Starring only needed the infamous frenzy of Pterodactyl drummer Matt Marlin to actualize the oversize jams they envisioned. Topped off by classic washed-out vocals, Starring's live shows have quickly begun to astonish those in search of spectacular musical patterns. Records will be released in many forms this fall.
