Taking their cue from live, vaudevillian scores of the silent
film era, the artist group known as Barnstormers create live scores
to a selection of videos from their ongoing motion painting series.
Motion paintings are video documents of the group's collaborative
painting sessions, often occurring over the course of an entire
month in the studio, captured through stop motion photography.
The result is a fast-forward yet fluid playback of the entire
session.
For this evening the Barnstormers improvise, in collaboration
with sound artist and performer, Jason Trammell,
remixing the films with live instrumentation, drum machines, turntables,
and field recordings.
Films include: 360, Apostrophe,
Letter to the President, and the rarely seen, No
Condition is Permanent.
Featuring solo and collaborative paintings of Maya Hayuk,
Kenji Hirata, Espo, Swoon, Mike Ming, Mike Houston, KR, Jest,
