Chicago DJ itchie fingers curates an evening featuring fierce
Chicago MCs FM Supreme & Jyroscope, and the thought provoking
electronic instrumentation of Brooklyn based producer KRTS. Itchie
is an MC, producer, avid record collector, and resident DJ at
OHM NightLife in Chicago. He is co-founder of the Super Heroes
of Sound: ALIVE Hip Hop Series. He has released a slew of mixtapes
and CDs over the years - the latest of which is a mix of disco-inspired
tunes called "A Disco Dance for Wall Flowers" – and
a series of mash-up records called "Itchie Finger Puppets".
FM Supreme is a three-time poetry slam champion, and an MC, who
writes rhymes that critique society, hoping to empower and uplift
the people in her community. She has independently released 3
albums over the last 3 years - the latest is entitled "Basik
Gumbo". Jyroscope is a monstrous duo - made up of IB
Fokuz and Colasoul Structure – with a tremendous presence that
demands the involvement of all who bare witness. They are preparing
to release an album called "Rag Time", but IB recently
offered up the self-produced future-classic "Spitting Glands".
Brooklyn based producer KRTS will be sharing a short set that
will serve as a taste of his upcoming show at The Cellar Door
(Opera House). His album, "A Posing Flower", was
recently released on Daedelus’ start-up label, Orphaned
Music. With the emotional nuances of both Radiohead and Sonic
Youth under his influence, KRTS launches forth a sonic spectrum
of energetic, bass-hitting, hip-hop and electronic beats that
add new, resonating flavor to current audience demand and creative
expectations.
