Otra Pichanga: Another Chilean Experiment
Pichanga is a popular Chilean appetizer, of dubious nature, that brings together many different ingredients (ham, cheese, onions, olives, carrots and pickles) in to the one dish all doused with vinegar. In many ways this video program is just that, a group of savory videos brought together to make a unique dish that will stimulate your curiosity. Some of the videos are acid and sarcastic, some are sweet and pleasing, others are tough and hard to bear, and still others are soft and tender. As a whole this is an interesting plate, full of surprises and rich in taste. You will surely enjoy the varied, challenging qualities of each bite.

The first Pichanga was prepared in a backyard in September 2005 by a group of Chilean women, and it satisfied the appetite of a whole lot of people. Otra Pichanga is a second helping of an unusual variety of videos made by creative and inspired Chileans. It is another attempt at sharing the not so ordinary flavors of Chilean creations.

Otra Pichanga Ingredients:

At first you’ll experience an audiovisual set by Offending Command. Then you’ll get a bite of video performance by nicoykatiushka, Marcela Moraga, Juan Céspedes and Rodrigo Salinas y La Nueva Grafica Chilena. Next it’ll be spontaneous documentaries by Francisca Benitez, Cristobal Lehyt and Pablo Gonzalez; followed by aesthetic contemplations by Diego Fernandez and Jose Letelier. You’ll also taste staged fictions by Manuela Viera-Gallo, Rodrigo Vergara and Mario Navarro; playful ironies by Giancarlo Pazzanese and Iván Navarro; and finally, critical visions by Michelle Letelier, Franscica Garcia, Pilar Ortiz and Valentina Serrati.

All of the videos are mixed thoroughly and each will integrate itself into the whole in an unexpected way. Enjoy!

Thanks to all the artists, José Letelier, Punto, Maria José Viera-Gallo, and Monkey Town.
