Katie Eastburn returns to Monkeytown with "B'way
Tomorrow",
4 evenings of post-apocalyptic cabaret soul classics for the
uncertain future of mankind. The tension in her songs arises
from the way the pounding undertow of piano plays against the
lilting sweetness of Katie's voice, making for a performance
that is bleary-eyed but hopeful in the face of desolation and
despair.
Katie Eastburn is a multifaceted performer who writes, records
and performs as one half of the low fidelity pop staples Young
People, with full-length albums released on 5rc, Dimmak, and
Too Pure. She dances and choreographs in the legendary Leg & Pants
Dans Theeatre, a scrappy bunch of hardcore dancers who have toured
like a rock band since 2002 with such groups as Deerhoof, Erase
Errata, The Thrones, and The Blow. In 2006, Kill Rock Stars released
her DVD, "Starter Set", a project combining the best
rock bands and dancers currently out there.
Tonight she presents new songs, old songs, and the occasional
YP tune accompanied only by what her 4 limbs can produce on piano & percussive
elements.
On November 13 and 27, Katie will be joined by Nick Hallett.
Nick is a musician and avid curator, originator of the band PLANTAINS,
and hard at work on writing his first musical.
