The Red Chair (sound) Shige Moriya (video)

WvS : The recent work of New York City based sound organizer WvS is comprised of highly abstract and dense sound-layers, noise-oriented organic sonic textures, as well as pitch and modulation glissando driven soundscapes. WvS studied computer music, classical composition and music theory in Europe and the US. He attended the 'Darmstadt Ferienkurse fur Neue Musik' and many European Computer Music conferences, lectured at IDEA, was Artist in Residence at Harvestworks/PASS (NYC), performed at Roulette (NYC), the Knitting Factory (NYC), and the Generator Sound Gallery (NYC) amongst other places. Having previously composed music for orchestra, chamber ensembles & solo instruments and conceptualized/realized computer controlled interactive performances, WvS currently focuses on entirely computer-generated sound structures without the use of electro-acoustical samples or 'field-recordings'. http://www.myspace.com/thesoundofwvs

Eric Redlinger : As a programmer and performer, Eric has been researching inter-media collaboration since the late 1980s through his involvement with the European Union funded Keyworx project and numerous open-source technology initiatives. Currently, he is developing new streaming media and data protocols to enrich the possibilities for collaborative expression in realtime mixed-media performance environments. His work has been showcased recently at the Ankara International Film Festival, the American Museum of the Moving Image and at the Transmediale festival in Berlin. In addition to teaching numerous workshops in New York and abroad, he is on the adjunct faculty of the New School University, where he teaches courses on telepresence and realtime digital media synthesis. Deeply committed to education and bridging the digital divide, he can be found most Sundays in New York's East Village at Mundial, where he helps host the weekly SHARE audio/visual community gatherings, a place for individuals interested in learning more about the tools and techniques for producing and collaborating with digital media performance to get first-hand experience in a supportive, newcomer-friendly environment. Eric is also a co-founder of 10base-t interactive, a consulting and solutions company that leverages his experience in cutting-edge digital media production to create custom software/hardware solutions for live webcasting and teleconferencing. http://ecumedesjours.com

Patrick Todd : Exploring the outer realms of manufacturing noise production through digital interface, Patrick Todd will bring us his raw sound in what will prove to be an electrifying evening of excessive/compulsive distortions and feedback. Please be prepared to enjoy noise the way it should be, at high decibel frequencies that will make your toes curl and your hair singe. http://www.thundermccloud.org

Shige Moriya is a video artist and curator. In 1996 Moriya opened CAVE in Williamsburg. Since then he has been Artistic Director and artist-in-residence at CAVE. He has presented his video pieces both locally and internationally. Moriya’s artistic work includes video installations, ambient boxes which involve creating an atmospheric inter-media visual/sound/performance environment, and collaborative work with dancers, musicians and visual artists in theater and dance productions. Recently Moriya has been working on a series of two-dimensional drawings and print works; however, he works primarily as a video-based installation artist, creating installations that are often sculptures made of the movements of light. http://www.cavegallery.com
