OPENING RECEPTION for Lullaby for a Dead
Man: 5pm - 6:30pm
A Fold in the Fabric will showcase artists working
along the axis between media and material. These artists explore
the interpenetration of live presence, mediated experience and
objectness through works of film, sound, video, installation and
media performance.
Monkey Town’s unique environment, a theater in the round
in a room built of images, provides us with the opportunity to
explore this material-media axis from an exciting vantage. Here,
light and image become architectural building materials for space
and structure, while sound can project planes of force as well
as conjure sonorous objects. Shifting levels of presence and deferral,
as well as real and virtual space, are folded and woven together
into an intricate tapestry of experience.
