Soprano Gretchen
Farrar and guitarist Francisco
Roldán perform works by Dowland, Mozart, Bellini,
Villa Lobos, Britten, Berlioz, and others. Kristin Steen’s
digital art enhances the experience of each song.
Soprano Gretchen Farrar is a passionate performer, educator and
advocate for the arts, with a body of work spanning a wide musical
spectrum. In addition to her work with Elysium-Between Two Continents
in Germany and New York, Gretchen has been heard in recital at
Merkin Concert Hall and across the northeast. She has also appeared
with Eugene Opera, Anchorage Opera, Dicapo Opera, National Lyric
Opera, Opera at Florham and Belleayre Festival Opera. Both Gretchen
and Francisco have recently appeared with New Music New York in
performances including works by contemporary composers.
Guitarist Francisco Roldán has performed throughout the
United States at Merkin Concert Hall, Alice Tully Hall and CAMI
Hall in New York, Harmony Hall in Maryland, St. Paul's Episcopal
Church in Milwaukee, for the Philadelphia Guitar Society, the
New Jersey Chamber Music Society, the Puffin Gallery, the Colombian
Consulates in New York and in Boston, the Smithsonian Library
in Washington, D.C., the Museum of the City of New York, Round
Top Music Festival, the Spanish Institute, Gracie Mansion, the
Americas Society, and various universities and libraries. This
year his itinerary also included the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium
at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. He has also played in
Bogotá, Colombia and in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mr. Roldán
currently teaches at the Mannes College of Music and at
Lehman College
Kristin
Steen is a digital artist
who has been working with technology and art, experimenting with
connections. She has discovered the old rules still work, even
with the new mediums.
