Joe McGinty is a well known NYC musician who was worked with
Ryan Adams, Jesse Malin, Ronnie Spector, the Psychedelic
Furs and many others. He is also the founder of Loser's
Lounge, the
ongoing tribute series where local musicians pay homage to pop
icons of the past. He formed Circuit Parade in the beginning
of 2007 to explore the worlds of pop songwriting, experimental
electronics and free improvisation.
Circuit Parade's all-star lineup features Mike McGinnis (Four
Bags, Robbie Coltrane) on woodwinds, Julia Kent (Antony and the
Johnsons) on cello and Leon Dewan (Dewanatron, Flaming Fire)
on Dewanatron (his homemade synthesizers).
The evening will feature a special short film/music video, "Million
Dollar Mermaid" filmed by his cousin Edward McGinty, which
is a loving tribute to Coney Island. It is also the release party
for "Million Dollar Mermaid" the debut recording of
Circuit Parade, mixed by Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Joan as Policewoman).
Also on the bill is Unicornicopia. Musician/Playwright/Performance
Artist Natalie Weiss has been performing as Unicornicopia since
2001. This experimental pop project has manifested itself as
a rock band, a musical with puppets and now as a one woman emotional
sound sculpture. Unicornicopia has collaborated with prominent
musicians and producers such as Joe McGinty of the Psychedelic
Furs, Ben Bromely of Fischerspooner, Jason McMahon of Skeletons
and the Kings of all Cities, Travis Stewart of Machinedrum and
Matthew Kamm of Dodger. She is in the final stages of mixing
the E.P. "Grace. You're a dear." - produced by the
excellent Joe McGinty.
