Takako and Spencer
will rock out lush textured, layered videos on 4
screens, together with film loops projected onto a floating cube.
Takako
draws inspiration for her moving images from music. Her rich
multilayered videos are more like moving paintings than music
videos,
though they are just as accessible as anything on TV. Her repretoire
includes works for The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Black Rebel
Mototcycle Club, A Place to Bury Strangers, among others.
Spencer's film work will be familiar
to fans of The Warlocks, Death in
Vegas and A Place to Bury Strangers, where his 16mm film mixing
has
helped power their live shows. His cube, an amazing analog work
that
turns film loop projections into a ghostlike, almost holographic
experience, has been shown in New York at the Riviera
Gallery
as well as in London and in clubs and events for artists like
Beck.
