HOWARD FISHMAN'S MONKEY FARM
" Moody, dangerous, ancient, modern, ruthless, longing,
explosive, and quiet."
- freewilliamsburg.com
" Transcends time and idiom."
- The New York Times
" Something of a shock."
- The Village Voice.
A pioneer of the Williamsburg music scene, Howard
Fishman has
been a neighborhood fixture since his days playing the Bedford
subway
platform a
decade ago. An early weekly residency at GALAPAGOS
led to his opening the doors at PETE'S CANDY STORE, where thursday
nights belonged to his quartet for over three years. Fishman
has since played all over the world (including his Lincoln Center
debut in that other borough earlier this year) and has released
half a dozen CDs,
garnering critical raves every step of the way.
MONKEY FARM is the name of Fishman's record label, and also the
designation he gives to shows where the quirk knob will be turned
up a little bit. Whether performing his own inimitable songs
or mining a seemingly endless repertoire of soulful pop, gospel,
country, blues and jazz, nothing is safe. When the FARM comes
to the TOWN, the MONKEYS will be climbing the walls!
