Day of the Dead with Black Sabbath
Many years ago, before the turn of the century, a man named Christy Karacas thought it might serve humanity if he and some 40 other artists all made 1 minute videos for each of the minutes of Black Sabbath's first album. Then. Like an exquisite corpse, Christy would sew the entire slew together and a seamless mash of images and sound would emerge.

Many of those artists have gone on to become much better known artists and now this very exquisite video corpse has formed a lustre that eludes description and welcomes your eyeballs and ear drums. This has only been shown a few times.

AND. In honor of tonight's gathering, an entirely new corpse is being sewn. Black Sabbath's second album, Paranoid, will play immediately following the first. And again, 40 some-odd artists will provide 1 minute snips inspired by Ozzy, et al.

AND. Admission is Free. There will be cheap beer. The beds will be removed. The sound: loud. And no food will be served in the back room. Get ready!

If you mash these bio-pic, 'murder' mysteries together, you could form a definitive opinion about who killed Kurt, Biggie, and Tupac. Or who Nick Broomfield is.

Kurt & Courtney (1998) must be better than Gus Van Sant's recent attempt at capturing Kurt's soul, Last Days. But we wouldn't know because we won't see Last Days, because we're sorry we saw Elephant.

We saw Biggie Smalls: Behind the Music on VH1 recently and we couldn't wait for each commercial break to end. By contrast, Biggie & Tupac (2002) offers Nick Broomfield's version of events.

3. Peter Gallagher was the object of women's desires in both films.
4. Those women were Daryl Hannah, Valérie Quennessen, and Laura San Giacomo.
5. Valérie Quennessen died in a car accident in 1989.
6. Peter Gallagher now stars as a father on the hit Fox television series, The O.C.
7. The Pointer Sisters' hit "I'm So Excited" is essential to the ending of Summer Lovers.

These films make the making of films seem like nightmares. Very lusty and violent nightmares. Burden of Dreams(1982) is Les Blank's look at Herzog and Kinski going mad while making Fitzcarraldo. Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (1991) is Eleanor Coppola's dream of her husband's dream of Conrad's dream.
