All That Heaven Allows

For the first time ever on 4 screens (with All That Heaven Allows on two of them) we will map the solar systems of Douglas Sirk, Todd Haynes, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder as they make and remake a story of small town disapproval, in the face of grand love affairs, in service to great allegories. Rock Hudson, Jane Wyman, Dennis Quaid, and Julianne Moore star in the American editions. Brigitte Mira and El Hedi ben Salem speak German. And the Technicolor in All That Heaven Allows will likely steal every scene.

The Man Who Fell To Earth

A waifish David Bowie stars in Nicolas Roeg's classic sci-fi wonderland. Buck Henry, Candy Clark, and Rip Torn are in support. And the soundtrack remains one of the greatest in film history. Recently re-issued by The Criterion Collection, The Man Who Fell To Earth restores "hallucinatory" to its proper, noble legacy.

November 30
SloMo Video Festival
Monkey Town alumnus Ryan Junell (See The Elephant) returns to our arena with 120 1-minute super slow motion videos. Or as the website says:

THE MINUTE BY MINUTE.
Stop and smell the roses! Leap into that k-hole! Rubberneck your own navel for a spell! Celebrate a savory moment... its the human way! Remember when you were a kid and you could stare at ants crawling around for hours, or just space out and look at the ceiling or the patterns on the floor? SloMo Video is a recreation of that meditative place in the present. It is a video experience that isn't afraid to put a 78 record on at 33 1/3rd and kick back in a beanbag to ponder the mysteries of space and time.

Yes. SloMo and beds and food. And pillows.

time: 7:30pm & 10pm
