Each Sunday in October we will present a radio show &
two documentaries:
This American Life
(6pm)
Each week Ira Glass and company chooses a theme and then invites
people to tell stories related to that theme. He's been doing
this for years. And we're still listening. And we thought
it might be nice to listen to this together.
Each week's program will be presented with semi-related visuals.
A
State of Mind(7pm)
is the story of two North Korean schoolgirls and their families
in the lead up to the Mass Games -- the biggest and most elaborate
human performance on earth. The visuals of their gymnastic/ball-dance
performances are breathtaking, both for their precision and
lunacy. This is a rare glimpse into the truly bizarre and
thoroughly creepy state-imposed culture of North Korea. Center
of the World(9pm)
is film, directed by Ric Burns, about the history of the World
Trade Center. And strangely and appropriately it is also a
film about Phillipe Petit, the man who "walked"
between the towers on a wire in 1974.
note:
There is a $1 surcharge that will
