Just as we normally do on Tuesdays, we will show two
films at the same time that have some relation to each other;
whether by subject, title, actors, or total whimsy. Each
film is shown on two screens each. And we switch the soundtrack
between each seating. So. If you'd like to watch a specific
film come to the screening with that Audio playing and the
other film will play in your periphery as it enters your
subconscious.
A classic Pam Grier next to a contemporary version. In Tarantino's
homage, Jackie
Brown (1997), she plays a flight attendant mixed
up with the police and some arm dealers. In the classic,
Foxy
Brown (1974), she's the vengeful wife of a government
agent shot down by some gangsters. In both she is badass.

The inspiration for every pimp that already existed and
every pimp yet to be born, including Kool Keith. The
Mack (1973) is back lookin' good and lookin'
fly. Sweet
Sweetback's Baadassss Song (1971) is probably
the ground zero of the Blaxploitation thing. Melvin Van
Peebles wrote, directed, acted in and scored the film. Film
Forum recently screened How To Eat Your Watermelon In
White Company (And Enjoy It) about Van Peebles life
and Sweet Sweetback's legacy. You bled my Momma.
You bled my Poppa. But you won't bleed me.
