Over the past 15 years, bi-coastal video
artist Darrin Martin has created a collection of works which
considers the connections between electronic media and the human
body, exposing the narrative and confessional potential of such
acts as watching, listening, and touch.
For Monkey Town, he presents his enhancement trilogy on hearing
degradation--1/2 Right, a rarely screened three-channel version
of Monograph in Stereo, and the East Coast premiere of his latest
film, Other Turbans. The program also consists of past favorites
Aviatrixs [sic] and The Knocking along with some other surprises:
a multi-channel remix of work from the Ceilings Without Walls
series, an adult visit to the childhood of promises that is Free
to Be...You and Me, and a "home movie" performance
by Andrew Shipin recapitulated in the work Dial Tone.
