Lichens
is Robert Lowe's "personal vehicle, created for performance
and recording solo and with collaborators. Lichens has performed
in Chicago, beginning at the Arthur magazine sponsored Million
Tongues Festival in summer 2004 and New York solo and in duos.
Lichens live is a transfixing experience, looping wordless vocals
into curtains of drone. Lowe adds acoustic and electric guitars,
percussion and other effects to create alternately thick and delicate
works."
Lowe recently performed and recorded with TV On The Radio for
their upcoming album. He also plays bass and sings in 90 Day Men.
Cloudland
Canyon is the dream child of Panthers
guitarist Kip Uhlhorn and German Simon
Wojan the SF Bay Gaurdian has said:
"The duo fabricate an introspective ambience shimmering with
subdued guitar rhythms and gurgling electronic overlaps, a hybrid
that took its initial breaths during Uhlhorn's tenure in the late
90s hardcore band Red Scare. Analogs and synthesizers bubbling
with 70s electronics mesh with savvy krautrock orchestrations
and then the raw edges of free jazz. Elements of no wave and freak
folk splash, foam, and crackle through the album's tracks, making
a sound evocative of what might happen if Syd Barrett scrambled
from his seedy nest to jam with the Black Dice."
