Colin
Stetson is a friend of ours. Since relocating to
our Brooklyn shoals, he has toured with Antibalas,
he performed solo at The Stone, and he has
been and is a master of the iternerant gig and recording session.
Previously, he recorded on a couple of Tom Waits'
albums. And he's also performed with Sinead O'Connor,
Burning Spear and Medeski, Martin, and Wood and
Anthony Braxton.
He also has a solo CD coming out this month.
We met Jesse
Sparhawk when he played
here in March with Marissa Nadler. Turns out, he's also friends
with Christina
Vantzou, the artist who has an Opening Reception
early this evening.
Jesse is a multi-instrumentalist and composer specializing in
harp (not harmonica), guitar, electric bass, and mandolin, while
dipping his toes into anything with keys, strings, or skins.
He has toured nationally and internationally as accompanist
and band member with Greg Weeks, Timesbold,
and Marissa Nadler.
His solo guitar album, Palmaria Palmata was self-released
in 2005, and the Imaginational Anthem Volume II compilation
featuring his original composition Light Cycle/Tetrahedra
is set for release June 6, 2006 on Tompkins Square Records.
Sam
Amidon is a fiddle player, a Sacred Harp singer,
and a gentleman. He often performs solo, but he is also seen
playing with Doveman
and Stars
Like Fleas. He also draws comics and makes videos
about little raspberries.
